     The objective of personal Bible study is not the memorization of factoids to ensure a Bible trivia championship.  The objective of  personal Bible study is for application and obedience.  Although Bible knowledge abounds, we are in the midst of a theological famine.  Radio and TV programs, books and more books litter our airwaves and bookshelves; but theology has given way to a peculiar egocentric methodology of interpretation.

Christians are reading their Bibles, but do they understand what they read?  We cannot apply what we do not fully understand and it is counter productive to apply what we misunderstand.  Biblical interpretation requires accurate historical and theological analysis.  Merely reading these ancient, sacred passages and leaping to some manufactured personal application is a leap of ignorance.  It is for this reason that Paul instructed Timothy to train teachers of the faith who could train others also. 

This book will not tell you what the Bible says, but it will provide the necessary tools to determine that for yourself.  Dr. Allen was ordained to the ministry in 1982, and has served as the pastor of two churches.  Among other degrees, he holds a Master of Divinity and a PhD in education.
